The tower atop the shrine is different from the usual shikhara. Its shape is semi-cylindrical and it is called khakhara deul. Shikharas have been placed in the four corners of the mandapa (bottom right of the picture.). This khakhara has its origins in rooftops of houses made with bamboo and wood. The mandapa is similar to the one in the Parasuramesvara Temple, with a two-tiered hipped roof.
